A Virginia company is recalling a cheddar cheese spread because of fears it’s contaminated with salmonella.

Miss Bonnie’s Gourmet of Winchester is recalling its Gourmet Classic Cheddar Cheese Spread distributed between Aug. 1 and Aug. 10, with a “best-by” date of Dec. 23, 2011. The batch code number is: 0116206G113.

The recalled spread is packaged in 8-ounce glass jars and was distributed to Kroger supermarkets in Roanoke, Cincinnati, Ohio, Memphis, Tenn., and Louisville, Ky.

The company said in a statement Thursday that no illnesses have been associated with the recall.

Miss Bonnie’s advises consumers to return the product to the store where it was purchased.

The company said the recall does not affect any other Miss Bonnie’s products.
