“Mystery” Salmonella Outbreak sickens 419 with 66 hospitalized

The CDC reports today that since the last update on September 23, 2021, 140 more people were added to this outbreak. As of September 29, 2021, 419 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Oranienburg have been reported from 35 states. 24 salmonella cases investigated in Sierra Vista area

State health officials confirmed three more salmonella cases in the Sierra Vista area, raising the number investigated to 24.

The cause of the outbreak remains unknown.

A cluster of salmonella was first identified last week in the area when 20 confirmed cases were reported, mostly in young children and adults.
