The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded a recall on alfalfa sprouts that may contain salmonella.

The recall is for Sunsprout and SproutsAlive brand alfalfa sprouts, which are produced by Sunsprout Natural Foods in Brantford, Ont.

The affected products were sold in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador but could be national, the CFIA stated. The recall was initially announced for Ontario on June 12.

The sprouts were sold in 140-gram packages with a best before date of June 13.

No illnesses have been reported.
