Little Bear brand curly parsley and cilantro recalled due to Salmonella

Various packages of curly parsley and cilantro are being voluntarily recalled by J&D Produce Inc. of Edinburg, Texas, following confirmation from regulators of a positive test for salmonella on curly parsley in Quebec and cilantro in Detroit. The items were packed Nov. 30-Dec. 6. There have been no reported illnesses.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

James Bassetti, president of J&D, said his company has taken numerous precautionary steps in response. Consumers with questions can call: 1-956-380-0353. The company is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST.

Products are packed under the Little Bear brand.
